چکیده

Abstract Aluminum sacrificial anodes are currently the first choice for cathodic protection in numerous applications. The galvanic performance of aluminum-based is considerably enhanced by addition certain alloying elements called activators. Recent researches proved that incorporation specific metal oxides like MnO 2 , CeO RuO and IrO into aluminum matrix could enhance efficiency anodes; however, mechanism which improve properties still subject to discussion. present work investigates effect incorporating commercially available low-cost manganese dioxide concentrate Al-5Zn-0.1Sn different volume fractions. It also studies influence heat treatment on anode’s performing solution at 3 temperatures (250 °C, 400 550 °C). electrochemical testing results an increase incorporated with treated °C. SEM imaging EDX elemental mapping declared presence SiO particles anode might cause effective uniform corrosion Al decreased non-coulombic losses. Graphical abstract

Influence of Casting Temperature on Electrochemical Behavior of Al-Zn-In Sacrificial Anodes

Aluminum anodes have been widely used in the cathodic protection of marine structures. However there are conditions in which these anodes become passivated or face some localized or unwanted corrosion, which influences their efficiency. Addition of alloying elements such as Zn and In not only have improved the efficiency of the anodes but also the effect of casting parameters such as ultra ...

Microstructure of Multi-Pass Friction-Stir-Processed Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Alloys Reinforced by Nano-Sized TiB2 Particles and the Effect of T6 Heat Treatment

In this work, a fine-grained structure with a uniform distribution of TiB2 particles and precipitates was achieved in TiB2 particle-reinforced (PR) Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys by friction stir processing (FSP). The effects of multi-pass FSP on the microstructure, and TiB2 particle distribution, as well as the microstructural evolution in the following T6 treatment, were investigated by X-ray diffraction...

Development of Sn-Zn-Al Lead-Free Solder Alloys

Fujitsu has implemented a company-wide effort to progressively reduce the use of lead (Pb) and eventually eliminate this environmental pollutant from its products. As part of this effort, we have developed a new lead-free solder that consists of tin (Sn), zinc (Zn), and aluminum (Al) and yet offers superior productivity and joint reliability. The new lead-free solder has a melting point equival...

Study on Iraqi bauxite ceramic reinforced Aluminum metal matrix composite synthesized by stir casting

For the past decades researchers are showing immense interest to investigate the natural advantage of preparation of composites from minerals such as bauxite particles, and proved their effectiveness as cost effective reinforcing agents in fabrication of high performance composites. This study, is a new attempt in using the Iraqi natural bauxite powder with different proportions (2wt%, 4wt%, an...
